“Call It Hate: Raising Awareness of Anti-LGBT Hate Crime - CIH”
The project “Call It Hate: Raising Awareness of Anti-LGBT Hate Crime - CIH” three main
complementary workstreams: research, campaign to general public and outreach.
Firstly, to improve understanding of hate crime in EU Member States, and raise awareness of anti-LGBT violence, the project aims to undertake a ground-breaking quantitative research on a representative sample of general public in Europe. The main aim of the survey is to measure the awareness of anti-LGBT hate crime in the society and produce data that can inform subsequent awareness-raising campaign, as well as broader policy, research and practice.
In order to identify the most effective campaign and outreach strategies, focus groups with LGBT people will be conducted in each country. Moreover, country expert roundtables, as well as an international training conducted by campaigning experts, will be organized.
During the two-years project, campaign to general public will be developed, with the aim of raising awareness of anti-LGBT hate crime among general public; sharing good practices in raising awareness and outreach to victims; strengthening cross-border and multi-agency partnerships.
Simultaneously, outreach activities target the members of LGBT communities will be conducted. The focus of the outreach activities will be informing, enabling and empowering victims and potential victims of anti-LGBT hate crime to report incidents.
The culmination of the dissemination activities will be the international conference for experts and key stakeholders at the end of the project.
